Aluminium and its alloys are lightweight, versatile and cost-effective materials, but they are also highly vulnerable.
Over time, they tend to oxidise and corrode, and can deteriorate as a result of scratches, wear and abrasion.

PROTECTIVE
Some treatments are specifically designed to increase the protection of the material.
This is achieved by improving its surface mechanical properties, resulting in greater resistance to corrosion, wear and abrasion, as well as increased surface hardness.
These characteristics make aluminium more durable and help extend its service life over time.
Among the anti-corrosion treatments for aluminium that we offer is SurTec 650, a surface treatment process designed to provide protection. We also carry out aluminium passivation and anodising treatments.
All these treatments involve an electrochemical process that forms a thin yet compact oxide layer on the surface. This passive film adheres firmly to the material and acts as a protective barrier against corrosion, abrasion and wear.
At the same time, these treatments help preserve the electrical properties of aluminium.
AESTHETIC
Some treatments are designed to enhance the decorative finish and improve the overall appearance of the material.
This is achieved by colouring the aluminium, using different methods depending on the specific treatment.
Hard anodising, for example, is characterised by greater coating thicknesses and smaller pores, making it particularly suitable for darker shades.
As a result of the process, colours such as grey, dark grey and brown can be obtained. The surface, which is well suited to dark finishes, can then be further coloured using dyes.
The darker the shade, the greater the coating thickness, which generally ranges from 20 to 60 µm.
Natural anodising, on the other hand, is characterised by a lower coating thickness, typically between 5 µm and 25 µm, and larger pores, making it suitable for a wide variety of colours. These include, for example, orange, yellow, blue, green and many others.
Another treatment used for colouring aluminium, and offered by Seritarghe, is electrolytic colouring: an electrochemical process that makes it possible to obtain a wide range of shades, generally ranging from stainless-steel tones to black, including bronze and champagne.
In addition, some aluminium treatments are also used to prepare the material for subsequent operations and processes.
This is the case, for example, with SurTec 650 and passivation, which provide an ideal surface for ensuring the adhesion of subsequent organic finishing layers, such as paints and coatings.
